Concordia University invites applicants to the position of full-time Enrollment Operations Communication Specialist at the CUW Mequon, WI campus!
The Communication Specialist plays a key role in the Office of Admissions to drive the development and execution of email marketing and communications plans. This position serves as the primary digital content producer in the office, ensuring content is accurate, compelling to target audiences, and within brand standards. They must exercise strong judgment about content and strategic thinking around timing, design, and execution. They will also demonstrate an analysis-driven approach to strategic and creative recommendations.
Reporting to the CRM Director of Enrollment System Operations and Admissions Initiative Manager, this position will work with the Office of Admissions team, administrators, admissions counselors, and other staff to support communication, recruitment, and yield efforts through email marketing and will work with the AVP of Marketing to align messaging and branding in all email campaigns.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, development, and deployment of all marketing, events, and operational emails (and SMS) using the Slate CRM interface.
- Manage email and landing page set-up, segmentation, scheduling, testing, and deployment. This includes one-time, recurring, triggered, and dynamic content campaigns.
- Manage the production of email campaigns, including HTML templates, list segmentation, exclusion/inclusion lists, and other aspects of email execution.
- Continuously optimize email and segmentation strategies to increase engagement through testing of subject lines, messaging, images, frequency, segments, etc., and troubleshoot technical problems with customer support.
- Manage departmental email marketing calendar daily to ensure delivery of all admissions emails, proactively raise concerns, and work with teams to resolve conflicts.
- Provide database and campaign-specific reporting for all email marketing campaigns to leadership and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on trends, industry best practices, technologies, and growth opportunities to ensure a best-in-class email-marketing program.
- Develop and optimize email nurture campaigns, such as welcome series for new contacts and reengagement campaigns for inactive users.
- Ensure compliance with unsubscribe process, country and state laws on user data and permissions (including CAN-SPAM, CASL, CCPA, and GDPR).
- Maintain excellent email deliverability and reputation scores, and a healthy email marketing lists by managing how contacts enter the database, including list uploads and automated integrations.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent professional communication skills - written and oral, especially public speaking
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work to successfully complete projects
- Experience with communication plan management preferred
- Knowledge of computers and software associated with general office procedures
- Prior experience in admission or enrollment preferred
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
- Two or more years of experience in an email marketing role using a marketing automation platform, preferably Slate CRM, preferred.
