Position Summary:
The Dietitian Technician, Registered is responsible for coordinating all phases of nutrition care including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling of residents and patients, as well as education and counseling of employees.
Dietitian Technician Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate degree in a Dietetic Technician Program granted by an accredited didactic program OR accredited baccalaureate degree with Didactic Program in Dietetics with completion of an accredited dietetic technician supervised practice of minimum 450 hours OR accredited baccalaureate degree with Didactic Program in Dietetics or Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) status by the Commission of Dietetic Registration; candidates eligible for registration may be hired with the understanding that registration will be achieved within 90 days of hire.
Dietitian Technician, Registered Responsibilities:
- Establishes an initial nutritional assessment form which provides the basis for the nutritional care plan for each resident including formulating recommendations for nutritional support of identified at risk residents.
- Participates in the scheduled conferences with the interdisciplinary team to develop the resident's individual plans of care.
- Oversees resident counseling or education with residents or their family members regarding nutritional care.
- · Evaluates, interprets, monitors and documents the nutritional status and nutritional needs of residents and patients.
- · Participates in wellness activities and provides education and counseling to employees as needed to promote healthy lifestyle changes.
- · Conducts employee in-service education as needed.
- · Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and Concordia policies & procedures. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
