Concordia Lutheran Church and School is seeking a full-time Church Business Coordinator to support the Senior Pastor, Principal/Head of School, Board of Directors, and ministry team in carrying out the financial, personnel, and business operations of the congregation and school.
Concordia Lutheran Church and School exists to know Christ and make Him known, while growing in faith and serving God’s Kingdom together. This position is an important ministry support role that requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, financial accuracy, and a servant-hearted approach to working with staff, families, congregation members, vendors, and community partners.
Position Summary
The Church Business Coordinator is responsible for helping manage the financial, personnel, compliance, and administrative business functions of Concordia Lutheran Church and School. This includes bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, bank reconciliation, personnel records, insurance coordination, compliance paperwork, and other duties that support the mission and ministry of the church and school.
This is not a remote position, though some flexibility within the role may be discussed.
Education
Minimum: Associates degree in accounting, Business Management, or a related field, with at least five years of experience in a relevant role. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Financial Management
The Church Business Coordinator will oversee and support the financial operations of the church and school, including:
- Processing financial transactions, deposits, disbursements, and account records in accordance with congregational policies and procedures.
- Processing payroll accurately, including taxes, HSA contributions, 403(b) plans, and other withholdings.
- Monitoring bank accounts and ensuring funds are accurately recorded and allocated.
- Maintaining compliance with internal financial policies related to purchase orders, reimbursements, credit card use, and required approvals.
- Recording transactions in accounting software in a timely and accurate manner.
- Performing monthly bank reconciliations and communicating discrepancies to the appropriate leadership.
- Preparing monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors.
- Assisting with annual budget preparation.
- Working with external auditors and auditing firms during annual reviews and audits.
- Meeting with the Board Treasurer to review the ministry’s financial status.
- Attending Board of Directors, Ministry Team, School Board, and other meetings as requested.
- Maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters.
Personnel Management
This position will also assist with employee records and compliance, including:
- Maintaining complete and legally compliant personnel files.
- Managing employee background screening processes and compliance records.
- Ensuring teacher and professional employee licenses are current and on file.
- Maintaining employee records related to tax withholdings, housing allowance, HSA withholdings, and insurance changes.
- Completing onboarding and off-boarding processes for employees.
- Working with church and school leadership to maintain training and compliance records.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all personnel matters.
Business and Compliance Management
The Church Business Coordinator will help support the business operations of the ministry by:
- Completing required paperwork related to the church and school’s tax-exempt status.
- Ensuring timely submission of governmental tax filings and regulatory reports.
- Working with Concordia Plan Services regarding employee coverage and benefits.
- Administering and monitoring church and school insurance policies.
- Meeting with insurance providers as needed to help secure appropriate ministry coverage.
- Providing wage reports and other necessary information for insurance and benefit programs.
Additional Duties
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Working with the School Office Manager to ensure volunteers have completed required training and background checks.
- Assisting with emergency drills, open houses, church events, and other ministry activities as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, Principal/Head of School, or Board of Directors.
Qualifications and Skills

- Be an active member of a Christian congregation.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while performing computer, bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative work.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain auto liability insurance limits of at least $100,000/$300,000 for business-related travel.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
