What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Nursing Faculty position at Concord University?
The Department of Nursing is seeking applicants for adjunct appointments to serve as clinical and academic adjuncts in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This is on a semester-to-semester basis as needed. Successful candidates are expected to have a willingness and desire to engage in student success and development in both the clinical and academic settings, as required, with an emphasis placed on the clinical setting.
Successful candidates should also maintain the mission of the Nursing Education Program, Department of Nursing, and Concord University while adhering to all West Virginia RN Board, Title 19 Series 1, rules/regulations, as well as adhere to the Nurse Practice Act of West Virginia. Assignments are based on course availability and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility
- Prepares and delivers instruction, setting high and challenging academic standards, to students in assigned modalities (including classroom, clinical, hybrid, online, etc.)
- Prepares instructional materials such as lectures, presentations, lab sessions, clinical and cooperative arrangements
- Uses various learning assessments to evaluate student mastery of course and program outcomes
- Provides feedback on student’s progress, in a timely manner, to facilitate academic success
- Prepares and submits required documentation, including course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades, and other information as requested or required by the university and faculty member mentor
- Maintains professional development/growth according to personal needs and requirements for certification and licensure.
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the University’s mission, core values and goals.

- For clinical assignment: Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in the clinical setting.
- For academic assignment: Master’s degree with experience in nursing education in the classroom or clinical setting.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- 3 years of experience in the clinical setting
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license or be willing to obtain a compact state registered nurse license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENT
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or advanced nurse practitioner
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license or be willing to obtain a compact state registered nurse license.
- 3 years of clinical practice and/or classroom experience
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Prior classroom experience
- Prior clinical experience and interdisciplinary collaboration
- The ideal candidate will be dually experienced as both an academic and clinical provider. Three or more years of teaching experience preferred.
- Strong collegial and collaborative skills
- Experience teaching face-to-face and online courses
- Experience as a preceptor in a nationally accredited program
- Working knowledge of national accreditation practices and policies
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license or be willing to obtain a compact state registered nurse license.
