Minimum Qualifications
- Training and experience in specific activity area (must be documented)
- Desire and ability to work with children (ages 3-15) and adults in a busy camp setting

- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Good character, integrity and adaptability
- Enthusiasm, patience, self-control and sense of humor
- College aged or College graduates preferred
Reports to: Camp Administrative Team
General Responsibility
Specialists are hired to oversee the planning, preparation, and execution of specialized activities during the day for participants in various Concord Academy Summer Camp programs. The specialists in each area have full responsibility for the physical space, equipment, materials requests, and curriculum planning. Specialists are expected to have previous experience or formal knowledge and/or certification in their specialized activity.
Specific Responsibilities
- Be punctual and prepared for your daily activities
- Ensure that counselors are fully engaged in the activities along with the campers, as appropriate, and to provide clear instruction and direction to counselors to ensure this
- Communicate to Specialties Coordinator any situation needing attention with regard to personnel, scheduling, facility, or safety issues
- Come prepared each day with a creative, educational, and related rainy-day activity
- Periodically assist with lunch and carline duties
- Conduct a pre-season inventory and provide the office with an order of needed supplies well in advance of the program start date
- Compile a written equipment and supplies inventory at the end of the season
- Maintain equipment and report damages or loss in a timely manner
- Ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored for the off-season in an organized manner
- Practice discretion at all times in conversations with campers and other staff
- Attend pre-season staff training
Essential Functions
- Ability to communicate and work with other staff and provide necessary instruction to campers
- Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
- Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives
- Ability to work with different age and skill levels
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to activities
- Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
Job Requirements:
- Available 8:00am-4:30pm on Mondays and 8:15am-4:30pm, Tuesday – Friday
- First Aid and CPR certification, strongly encouraged
- Some high-level activity which may include running, dancing, swimming and jumping
- Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs
- Frequent talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing
- Submit all required paperwork on time.
- Attend all pre-camp trainings and orientation
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $4,800 - $5,500; based on experience
