Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Regional Director of Admissions to lead the enrollment processes for our short-term and long-term care nursing home. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the admissions department, ensuring a seamless, compassionate, and compliant experience for prospective residents and their families. Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive admission strategies aligned with organizational goals to maximize occupancy rates while maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
- Oversee the entire admissions process, including initial assessments, documentation review, bed allocation, and coordination with clinical teams to ensure smooth transitions for new residents.
- Manage the admissions team by providing supervision, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a motivated and efficient department.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards, and other compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with medical staff, social workers, human resources, and external referral sources to facilitate timely admissions and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to support clinical operations and regulatory audits.
- Monitor departmental budgets, manage fiscal responsibilities including billing procedures related to admissions, and optimize resource utilization through effective financial management practices.
- Lead efforts in utilization management and managed care processes to ensure appropriate level of care while controlling costs.
- Promote a patient-centered approach by ensuring clear communication with residents’ families throughout the admission process.
Skills
- Proven experience in healthcare management within long-term or short-term care settings with supervisory responsibilities.
- Sales and Marketing experience.
- Strong knowledge of medical office management systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR/EHR platforms.
- Expertise in fiscal management including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation tailored to healthcare facilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, HIPAA compliance standards, and healthcare regulations like JCAHO accreditation requirements.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams across clinical and administrative functions.
- Ability to navigate complex insurance processes including managed care programs and utilization management protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents’ families, staff members, referral sources, and external partners effectively.
- Knowledge of acute care practices, hospital operations experience is advantageous but not mandatory; a background in medical administrative support is highly valued.
