911 GIS Specialist
911 GIS SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS:
Performs technical work required to develop, administer, and maintain a regional Geographic Information System (GIS) database including assignment and creation of address points and road centerlines, processes QA/QC database errors, and creation of regional wall maps, mapbooks, and digital maps inclusive of indoor maps. Performs diverse tasks including equipment maintenance and training on 9-1-1 computer systems and acts as liaison between city/county user/stakeholders, equipment vendors, telephone companies, and local administration.
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License
- Must possess Bachelor’s degree
- Must be able to pass background check
Applicant should have strong computer skills and a background in the computer science field. Prior knowledge or experience with ESRI Mapping software is strongly preferred. Applicant must be familiar with Microsoft Windows and Office and possess the ability to learn new skills quickly. Experience in Python and other coding languages is preferred, but not mandatory. Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major course work in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, or Planning is preferred. However, experience and education may be substituted for one another.
