Assistant Accounting Manager - Centrum Office in San Diego, CA

What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager. This individual supports property accounting operations, staffing, and communication by managing onboarding/offboarding tasks, overseeing tax tracking, training and supervising staff, ensuring compliance and accuracy, and serving as a key liaison across teams and ownership groups. This position will be at our corporate location Centrum Office in San Diego, CA.
This is a full-time position with full benefits. Pay range: $83,000 - $87,000 per year
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Support property onboarding/offboarding and maintain related documentation.
- Serve as liaison for the San Diego team and manage the Global Property Tax Tracker, including online payments.
- Assist with creating/updating instructional materials, procedures, and Property Info Sheets.
- Provide coverage for Support Associates and Managers as needed.
Staffing
- Recruit, interview, and help retain qualified department staff.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
- Monitor staff performance, ensure accuracy of accounting work, and assist with month-end closings.
- Help prepare employee reviews and ensure staff are fully trained.
- Provide ongoing training, hold regular staff meetings, and support professional development.
Communication
- Respond to emails and calls within 24 hours and provide timing updates.
- Support internal and external customers across departments and ownership groups.
- Coordinate and communicate with Accounting staff to ensure accuracy and completion of work.
All other duties as assigned.
Who You Are: (Requirements of the Position)
- You have a minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- You have experience property management w/multi-family and affordable housing preferred.
- You have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- You have a professional proficiency in GAAP accounting standards.
- Organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with residents, vendors, and team members professionally.
- You are proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- You have experience with Yardi, Boston Post, Real Page, or other affordable platform highly preferred.
