SWISS - Setup Machinist

We are seeking an experienced Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for independently setting up CNC machines, verifying first-piece quality, troubleshooting machining issues, and ensuring efficient production while maintaining high quality standards. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient machinist with strong setup experience who can minimize downtime and support production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all CNC machining responsibilities, including machine operation and production.
• Independently set up CNC machines using setup sheets and work instructions.
• Run and inspect the first piece to ensure it meets blueprint and quality specifications.
• Make offsets and adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and prevent machine crashes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measuring instruments.
• Maintain quality standards throughout the production process.
• Support production changeovers and optimize machine uptime.
• Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Proven experience independently setting up CNC machines.
• Ability to run and approve first-piece inspections without assistance.
• Experience reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mazak machines, including Integrex and 5-axis machining centers.
• Experience with Star Swiss CNC machines.
• Experience supporting production changeovers and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Multi-axis machining experience is highly preferred.
