Network Test Automation Engineer (Ethernet Systems DV)

Pay Rate: $85 95/hour (W2 only)

About the Role
We are seeking a Network Test Automation Engineer to support the development and validation of Ethernet-based sensor networks within an advanced autonomous vehicle platform.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams-including Systems, Integration, Software, and Sensor teams-to build scalable automation solutions that ensure network performance, reliability, and compliance across complex distributed systems.
This position is ideal for an engineer with strong automation experience and deep expertise in networking, particularly within hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system validation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for Ethernet compliance, integration, and performance testing
- Create and utilize PCAP/tcpdump tools and fault-injection scripts to validate network protocols (e.g., ARP, ICMP) and failure scenarios
- Configure and manage VLAN (802.1Q) network topologies across bench and HIL environments
- Validate interoperability between network switches and sensors, ensuring compliance with security and industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust network validation solutions
- Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for test frameworks, methodologies, and system configurations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in network testing, automation, or system validation
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including OSI model, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, and VLANs
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting, with experience building automation frameworks (e.g., pytest)
- Hands-on experience with network diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, iPerf, tcpdump, traceroute, and ethtool
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across the full network stack
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automotive Ethernet standards (e.g., 100BASE-T1, BroadR-Reach)
- Familiarity with DoIP and UDS over IP
- Knowledge of time synchronization protocols (e.g., IEEE 1588v2/PTP, 802.1AS)
- Experience working in HIL environments, including integration with DAQ systems and relay-controlled power setups
