Engineering Project Manager – Capital Projects
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead capital equipment and manufacturing projects in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing projects from initiation through implementation while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder with experience leading engineering or manufacturing projects, coordinating diverse stakeholders, and driving projects to successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital equipment and manufacturing projects through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
- Coordinate activities across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Facilities, Supply Chain, and external vendors.
- Facilitate project meetings, track action items, and communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and production readiness activities.
- Drive issue resolution and promote collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Monitor project performance and recommend process improvements to enhance project execution.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- At least 2–3 years of project management experience leading engineering or capital projects.
- Proven experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications.
- Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with external vendors and equipment suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification.
- Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing industries.
- Experience with capital equipment installation and implementation.
- Familiarity with FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, Equipment Qualification (EQ), or Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT/FAI).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management software.
