Location: Columbia, SC
We are seeking an EDI Application Developer to join a highly experienced Medicare EDI team responsible for supporting and enhancing critical Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems. This role focuses on maintaining existing EDI front-end and translator applications, implementing new EDI solutions, troubleshooting complex multi-tier environments, and supporting customers with file transmission and report retrieval issues.
Key Responsibilities
EDI Systems Support & Enhancement
- Support and maintain existing EDI front-end and translator systems utilizing ANSI X12/5010 EDI standards.
- Assist with the implementation and deployment of new EDI front-end and translator technologies.
- Research and resolve customer issues related to file submissions, report retrieval, and EDI transaction processing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across multi-tier distributed systems and applications.
- Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support complex application software.
- Formulate project scope, objectives, and technical requirements through research and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document application enhancements and system modifications.
- Evaluate system interdependencies and assess the impact of changes across related applications.
- Apply system conversions, enhancements, and integrations to meet evolving business needs.
- Partner closely with business analysts, customers, and technical team members to understand and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Ensure solutions align with organizational IT strategies, architectural standards, and operational goals.
- Provide post-implementation support and contribute to ongoing system improvements.
- Develop and execute test plans, create test data, and validate application functionality.
- Perform debugging, issue resolution, and performance analysis.
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to system enhancements, procedures, and support activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting EDI systems using ANSI X12 / 5010 standards.
- Strong experience with UNIX/Linux command-line environments and shell scripting.
- Experience troubleshooting multi-tier distributed systems and applications.
- Proficiency in C/C development.
- Strong SQL and database integration experience, including:
- Oracle
- Open-source database platforms
- Experience analyzing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-level applications.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Python development experience.
- Experience with AI-driven solutions or automated testing tools.
- API integration experience.
- Knowledge of authentication technologies, including LDAP.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Healthcare, Medicare, or HIPAA-regulated EDI environment experience.
