Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for the first shift. In this role, you will perform emergency repairs, preventative maintenance, and scheduled activities across the facility. You will utilize strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues, oversee contractor operations to ensure compliance with company standards, and maintain a wide range of processing machinery and facility systems. Daily responsibilities include inspecting boilers and compressed air equipment, adhering to HACCP requirements, and ensuring repaired equipment is safely returned to service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform emergency repairs, preventative maintenance, and scheduled facility activities.
- Diagnose and correct equipment failures and malfunctions.
- Install, maintain, and repair processing machinery (distillation columns, reactors, mixing kettles, control systems, packaging equipment, piping, and electrical systems).
- Inspect and operate boilers and compressed air equipment daily.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP requirements, including calibrations and equipment release protocols.
- Oversee contractor operations, inspect work quality, and direct improvements.
- Conduct general facility maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts.
- Maintain building and grounds to company standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing, chemical, food, or pharmaceutical facility.
- Broad knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and general building repairs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to respond to emergencies.Experience with pumps, fluid machinery, valves, pneumatic systems, steam systems, packaging machinery, welding, shop machinery, and portable power tools.
- TIG welding experience on stainless steel (highly desirable).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in or willingness to learn Windows-based programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license and insurability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Availability Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–3:30 pm, with flexibility to work Saturdays as needed.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and noisy environments while adhering to PPE requirements (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hairnet, beard net, earplugs).
Preferred Qualifications
- State Class “A” or Class “D” Operating Engineer’s License.
- State Black Seal Boiler Operator’s License.
- Training in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LTCT, lift truck operation, Boiler Operator’s License, OSHA 10, or emergency response.
Certifications
- Boiler Operator’s License (preferred).
- OSHA 10 Certification (preferred).
