Trade Compliance Manager – Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day trade compliance operations for the OpCo in the US and Canada; support global trade compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders to ensure adherence to trade laws and internal policies.
- Drive tariff mitigation and duty-saving strategies, including first sale, duty drawback, Section 232 assessments, country of origin determinations, and reconciliation.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve trade compliance programs, SOPs, policies, and internal controls for the US, Canada, and Europe.
- Identify and execute process improvements to enhance efficiency, minimize regulatory risk, and reduce costs.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 6 years in customs, export controls, or related trade compliance experience.
- Proficient in US export regulations: EAR, Census, OFAC sanctions, Commerce Control List, ECCN classification, export licensing, restricted party screening.
- Advanced knowledge of US customs regulations: HTS classification, customs valuation, import compliance, country of origin determinations.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and EU import/export regulations and their operational application.
- Demonstrated experience implementing tariff mitigation strategies (free trade agreements, duty drawback, reconciliation, etc.).
Preferred / Plus Qualifications
- Licensed US Customs Broker (highly preferred)
- Experience with Oracle, ERP systems, and analytics/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably life sciences manufacturing
