Location: Albany, NY (Onsite first week, then Remote)
Duration: 12 Months
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support DB2 databases on the z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DB2 administration, performance tuning, and database utilities, along with the ability to support mission-critical production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide incident and problem resolution in line with service level requirements
- Execute DB2 utilities such as Reorg, Runstats, Copy, Load, Unload, Modify, Check, Recover, and Rebuild
- Write and modify JCL for database operations
- Execute DB2 commands (Start, Stop, Display, Cancel, etc.)
- Monitor and manage database performance and capacity
- Perform backup and recovery operations
- Review logical database designs and convert them into physical database structures
- Implement database changes including new objects and schema modifications
- Manage DB2 security (RACF, roles, privileges, grants, revokes)
- Document solutions and implement improvements
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for production support
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with DB2 on z/OS (including v11/v12)
- 5 years of experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 utilities
- 5 years of hands-on experience with DDL execution
- 5 years in performance tuning and capacity management
- 5 years of experience in backup and recovery processes
- Strong experience in database monitoring and maintenance
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in DB2 z/OS environments
- 4 years of experience specifically with DB2 v11/v12
- 7 years of experience in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 utilities
- Advanced experience with performance tuning and database optimization
- Bachelor s Degree in a related field
