Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical administrative support and be comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment. This role is critical to the smooth operation of our office, and the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our medical staff and patients.
Duties
- Provide exceptional patient care and support, including greeting patients, answering phone calls, and responding to patient inquiries.
- Manage medical records and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, performing routine administrative tasks, and preparing patient files.
- Maintain a clean and organized medical office environment, adhering to all hospital and medical office standards.
- Assist with clinical procedures, including phlebotomy, vital signs, and preparing patients for exams.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and physiology to accurately document patient information and assist with patient care.
- Work effectively with medical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide support to the emergency department, including assisting with triage, patient flow, and emergency room procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of hospital and medical office systems and procedures, including electronic medical records and billing systems.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy is essential.
- Knowledge of medical administrative support procedures and systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Certification in medical administrative support or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center is highly valued.
- Knowledge of PICU procedures and protocols is an asset.
- Experience working in urgent care is an advantage.
