What are we looking for in an IS Support Specialist?
The Support Specialist for the Information Services team provides software and hardware support to end-users and serves a generalist in providing assistance with a variety of department functions.

IS Support Specialist duties may include:

• Installs and maintains all end user workstations, software and peripheral equipment. Performs preventative
• maintenance on end user workstations and peripheral equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnoses and corrects end user problems. Refers unresolved issues to the appropriate team member when necessary.
• Follows up with end users to ensure problems have been adequately resolved. Documents resolutions and analyzes
• trends for ways to prevent future problems.
• Assists in evaluation of new computer hardware and software. Refers major hardware or software problems to vendor,
• under the guidance of the Director.
• Creates and maintains operating system images. Deploys images and prepares computers for installation.
• Evaluates operating systems and software application releases for use within agency. Modifies and customizes software
• application configurations for agency needs. Develops documentation for the system’s specifications and operating
• standards.
• Answers Help Desk calls as a backup as per Information Services procedures.
• Develops documentation to train users in the proper use of computer hardware and software. Provides tutorial and
• classroom instruction to staff.
• Ensures computer software is installed and configured correctly. Applies software updates when necessary. Maintains
• agency computer hardware and software inventory.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows Server products, and
• imaging/deployment software, in addition to others as to be determined.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in computer science related field
• One-year relevant experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
