Job Description: Serves as an adult and youth prevention specialist, providing resources, networking opportunities and training.
Role and Responsibilities
- Serves as a community consultant to mobilize and empower communities to work toward the prevention of substance abuse and violence and the promotion of overall mental health
- Serves as an adult and youth educator, providing resources, networking opportunities and training
- Serves as an informational resource person, providing substance abuse prevention and mental health resources to parents, youth, professionals, and the community at large
- Provides technical assistance and consultation to community coalitions including drug free clubs and other youth organizations that focus on alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention
- Plans and implements substance and suicide prevention programming through public presentations and the delivery of evidence-based curricula
- Assists with marketing efforts for the RPC
- Other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in health and human services, health education, communications, marketing, social sciences or related field preferred
- Current Prevention Specialist Certification (CPS) or willing to obtain CPS within 3 years of employment
- Must successfully pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Capability of traveling to and providing services in settings and locales which may not be handicap accessible.
Special Requirements
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including good public speaking skills
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Able to complete responsibilities from a remote location on as an needed basis
- Must follow Comprehend telework policies
