What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at Comprehend Inc.?
Role and Responsibilities
- Check Insurance eligibility and obtain benefits.
- Run unpaid and unbilled claims reports and conduct follow ups on denied claims.
- Enter insurance information into the practice management system.
- Obtain pre-authorization for services as needed.
- Work all denied claims including re-submit/rebill on the web portals or Clearinghouse.
- Correcting data in the Billing System for all claims that have been denied due to incorrect data.
- Work directly with providers to ensure accurate coding and ensure that all billable services have been captured accurately.
- Assist the Billing Manager with monthly agency billing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School graduate
- Medical office experience required.
- Medical billing certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for periods of time.
- Ability to stoop, squat, etc. for filing.
Special Requirements
- Excellent typing and telephone skills
- Through knowledge of billing and insurance procedures.
- Great customer service skills.
- Computer knowledge with specific preference for knowledge of Avatar billing system.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Successfully pass criminal records check and urine drug screen.
