Job Title: IT Specialist / API Developer (mid-level)
Company Overview: Composite Approach is a leading advanced composite manufacturing firm based in Redmond, Oregon. With sustained growth and lean systems implementation, we are expanding our team and seek a motivated, hands-on IT professional to join us and strengthen our IT infrastructure, compliance, integrations, and decision support.
Role Summary: You will be responsible for the day-to-day IT management and support functions, while progressively taking on more strategic API & BI development, system integrations and compliance responsibilities. This is not a pure helpdesk role — success requires partnership with the executive team and department leads to generate efficient workflows, secure systems, integrated platforms, and compliance readiness. We are seeking a detail-driven, technical, and ambitious IT professional, with a mature capability and appetite for problem solving, to fill this mid-level IT Specialist / API Developer role.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Management & Support
- Lead day-to-day IT operations, including hardware setup, software installation, network maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support to staff, resolve issues, and ensure system uptime and security.
- Maintain and improve IT policies, cybersecurity measures, and processes.
CMMC Compliance
- Assess current IT systems against CMMC requirements and develop implementation plans.
- Monitor compliance metrics, conduct audits, and propose enhancements to meet certification standards.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and liaise with external auditors, advisors, and bodies as needed.
API Development & Integration
- Develop and maintain APIs using Python and JavaScript to connect business platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, project management tools).
- Integrate systems for seamless data flow, automation, and improved operational efficiency.
- Identify integration risks, optimize performance, and propose solutions for scalability.
- Development and integration of BI functions, metrics and reporting into systems
Systems, Process & Controls Improvements
- Help implement and drive improvements in IT systems, automation, and workflow efficiency.
- Execute ad hoc analyses, special projects, and infrastructure planning support.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 3 to 5 years of progressive IT/development experience (ideally with specialist or senior IT exposure)
- Prior experience in aerospace, composites, or high-precision manufacturing
- Strong understanding of IT principles, networking, cybersecurity, and system administration
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript programming for API development and scripting
- Experience with API development, system integrations, and tools like RESTful services or GraphQL
- Knowledge of CMMC or similar compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)
- General IT skills including hardware/software management, cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure), and databases
- Advanced skills in troubleshooting and tools like Excel; familiarity with BI or DevOps tools a plus
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills; ability to partner across functional teams
- High integrity, analytical mindset, accountability driver, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Desire to grow in a hands-on, scaling company environment
- Exposure to ERP systems, version control (e.g., Git), or containerization is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: $85,000 – $110,000 (commensurate with experience)
