A growing organization in the Southwest Connecticut area is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to join its team. This position will play an important role in supporting payroll operations for a large employee population while partnering closely with HR and Finance. The ideal candidate will bring strong end-to-end payroll experience, knowledge of payroll compliance, and the ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the payroll inbox and respond to payroll-related inquiries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues, including off-cycle payments, stop payments, replacement payments, and other payroll adjustments.
- Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, reviewing, and entering data within the payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll journals to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and distribute annual tax reporting documents, including W-2s and W-2Cs.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with benefit invoice reconciliation and funding.
- Support key payroll projects, including acquisitions, global payroll initiatives, and process improvements.
- Serve as a backup to the Payroll Manager as needed.
- Provide documentation and support during payroll audits.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and Finance to implement new processes and improve existing procedures.
- Perform additional payroll-related responsibilities as needed.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- 5–7 years of relevant end-to-end payroll processing experience, preferably supporting 1,500 U.S. employees.
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and functions used for payroll reporting and analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll processes and federal, state, and local payroll tax and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a large-scale payroll system; Workday Payroll experience is preferred.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Experience with Workday Payroll preferred.
- FPC certification preferred.
