Location: 832 Princeton Avenue Southwest

Pay: $18.50-$21.50

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:

Serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts while overseeing the First Impression Receptionist team.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures according to medical office guidelines.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Identifies and addresses any area of improvement (pertaining to processes, staffing, etc.) with leadership.
  • Manage time off requests and ensure coverage for all areas.
  • Train any new team members.
  • Train team members on any updated processes or policies.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years of experience as a front desk medical receptionist
  • Skillful and knowledgeable in all aspects relating to the front office of a busy medical clinic.
  • Must be a caring and compassionate person able to put patients at ease using excellent communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency is required and software such as EMR (Athena and Epic), Word, Excel, and other programs are strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write legibly.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal.
  • The ability to travel to nearby clinics as needed

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The position requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and finger use. Pushing and pulling are occasionally required. Use of a computer, keyboard, and telephone along with various office machines is an essential part of the job.
