Location: 74 Plaza Drive, Pell City, AL 35125
Pay: 16.55 - $18.00 hr.
Pharmacy Hours: Mon - Fri 9AM - 630PM, Sat 9AM - 4PM, Sun 1PM - 6PM
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Pharmacy Technicians support pharmacological services by stocking assembly and distributing medications under the direct supervision of the Pharmacists. May also serve as a cashier to the front and drive-thru windows.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Accurately organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities and dosage; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
- Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions in the pharmacy computer system.
- Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Serves as a Cashier and properly accounts for funds.
- Provides quality customer service at all times.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Required to be in possession of a Pharmacy Technician's certification or License from the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
- One to two years of experience in a retail pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician is strongly preferred.
- Pharmacy Technicians must also have data entry, spreadsheet, database and typing skills as well as working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must have the ability to follow directions exactly and precisely.
