POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Compeer is hiring a Development Coordinator who will take the lead on producing our signature fundraising events, strengthening donor and sponsor relationships, and supporting development initiatives that advance mental health and social connection across Western New York. This position is ideal for a highly organized, relationship-driven professional who enjoys taking ownership of events from concept through implementation, strengthening donor and sponsor relationships, and coordinating development projects with clarity and follow-through. The position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and collaborates with the development, marketing, and mental health education teams to ensure exceptional event experience, donor engagement, and community visibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the lead planner and project manager for all Compeer signature fundraising events.
- Develop and oversee event timelines, task lists, committee meetings, budgets, vendor coordination, sponsorship fulfillment, volunteer roles, and day-of execution.
- Serve as the main point of contact for third-party fundraising events benefiting Compeer, ensuring alignment with brand and mission.
- Support the implementation of the donor stewardship plan (acknowledgments, updates, impact communications, segmented donor care).
- Assist with annual appeals, Giving Tuesday, and seasonal fundraising initiatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1–2 years of experience in nonprofit development, event coordination, communications, volunteer management, or a related field
- Experience planning or supporting fundraising events
- Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems (Keela a plus)
- Experience in a nonprofit or community organization
- Knowledge of the Western New York philanthropic or corporate community

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Physical requirements of this job are that of an office environment, including but not limited to the following: prolonged sitting while operating computer and office equipment, frequent talking and listening, occasional walking, and minimal lifting/reaching.
- Candidate must have reliable transportation and automobile insurance, or the ability to utilize public transportation to commute across Erie County.
- Candidates must be willing to work in an office environment 4 days per week. Friday is the only eligible day to work remotely each week.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
- Pay is $40,000 - $43,000 [$21.98 - $23.63 per hour]
- 4.5 day workweek.
- 12 paid holidays annually.
- 140 hours of vacation per year (accrued at 5.38 hours per pay period).
- Up to 84 hours of paid sick leave per year.
- 28 hours of mental health leave annually.
- Employer contribution towards 403(b).
- Comprehensive insurance coverage including dental and vision fully covered; single health insurance coverage at 90%.
