About Compassion Construction

Compassion Construction is a design-build-restoration company serving homeowners and property owners throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Our services include water mitigation, insurance restoration, residential reconstruction, remodeling, roofing, kitchen & bath remodeling, showroom and property-damage repairs.

Our name reflects how we approach every project. Many of our customers contact us after an unexpected water loss, storm, roof leak, plumbing failure, or other stressful event. We believe they deserve more than technical knowledge—they deserve clear communication, respectful treatment, dependable follow-through, and genuine compassion.

We are seeking an experienced Water Mitigation Technician who can professionally represent our company in customers’ homes, document insurance-related losses accurately, communicate with insurance adjusters, and perform physically demanding mitigation work safely and efficiently.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have at least two years of relevant experience in water mitigation, property restoration, construction, roofing, insurance repairs, or a closely related field.

Position Summary

The Water Mitigation Technician will assist with the inspection, documentation, stabilization, drying, cleaning, and restoration of residential and commercial properties affected by water damage and other covered losses.

The ideal candidate is experienced in water extraction, moisture detection, drying equipment, controlled demolition, contents manipulation, jobsite documentation, and customer communication. This person must also be comfortable using technology to record moisture readings, upload photographs, complete job notes, communicate with the office, and maintain accurate insurance-claim documentation.

Because our technicians often work inside customers’ homes during stressful situations, the right candidate must be professional, compassionate, clean, respectful, and capable of explaining the mitigation process in a clear and reassuring manner.

Primary Responsibilities

Water Mitigation and Restoration

  • Respond to residential and commercial water-damage assignments.
  • Assist with evaluating affected areas and identifying visible signs of water intrusion.
  • Perform water extraction using appropriate extraction equipment.
  • Set up, monitor, reposition, clean, and remove air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and other drying equipment.
  • Use moisture meters and other approved tools to identify and document affected materials.
  • Record daily moisture readings and document drying progress.
  • Assist with controlled demolition, including the removal of damaged drywall, insulation, flooring, baseboards, cabinetry components, and other affected materials when authorized.
  • Install containment and floor or surface protection when required.
  • Assist with moving, protecting, inventorying, and resetting customer contents.
  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting, debris removal, and jobsite preparation.
  • Help protect unaffected areas of the property from additional damage.
  • Monitor drying conditions and immediately report unusual conditions or concerns to the project manager.
  • Follow the approved scope of work and obtain direction before performing work outside the assigned scope.
  • Assist with storm-related, roof-leak, reconstruction, and other restoration activities when properly trained and assigned.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of paid professional experience in water mitigation, property restoration, construction, roofing, insurance reconstruction, or a closely related field.
  • Previous hands-on experience with water-damage restoration or insurance-related property losses.
  • Experience communicating directly with insurance adjusters or claims representatives.
  • Understanding of common mitigation procedures, documentation, equipment, and terminology.
  • Experience using moisture meters, air movers, dehumidifiers, extraction equipment, or similar restoration tools.
  • Ability to document work using photographs, job notes, moisture readings, and electronic forms.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, mobile applications, email, cloud-based software, and digital project systems.
  • Ability to learn new software and documentation procedures quickly.
  • Strong customer-service and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally inside occupied homes and businesses.
  • Ability to follow instructions, scopes of work, safety procedures, and company standards.

The Right Person for This Position

The right candidate will be:

  • Experienced and confident without being careless or overconfident.
  • Comfortable performing demanding physical work.
  • Able to remain productive in hot, humid, dirty, or uncomfortable conditions.
  • Technology-savvy and disciplined about documentation.
  • Professional when speaking with homeowners and insurance adjusters.
  • Compassionate toward customers experiencing property damage.
  • Careful with customers’ homes, furnishings, and belongings.
  • Willing to clean up rather than leaving the mess for someone else.
  • Proactive and able to recognize what needs to be done.
  • Honest about mistakes, concerns, and jobsite conditions.
  • Able to follow a process without cutting corners.
  • Dependable, punctual, and accountable.
  • Willing to support coworkers and contribute to a positive work environment.
