About the Role

The Quality Manager I partners with clinical and operational leaders to improve the quality, compliance, and effectiveness of behavioral health services across Compass Health. This position develops, implements, and monitors clinical and administrative quality improvement initiatives while supporting regulatory compliance, documentation excellence, and continuous process improvement.

Working collaboratively across programs, the Quality Manager I analyzes performance data, facilitates quality reviews, supports audits, develops training resources, and helps drive organization-wide initiatives that improve client outcomes and operational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Improvement & Compliance
  • Support quality improvement initiatives across assigned departments and service lines, including policies, workflows, documentation standards, forms, and training.
  • Conduct prospective, concurrent, and retrospective chart reviews to evaluate documentation quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Recommend improvements to quality review processes and organizational workflows.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and recommendations that support leadership decision-making.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
  • Assist with external audits and coordinate responses with regulatory and contract entities.
  • Review Special Occurrence reports as part of the Quality Team, ensuring timely follow-up and compliance with agency standards.
  • Provide backup support to the Chief Quality Officer on compliance, privacy, and risk management matters.
Process Improvement & Training
  • Assist with policy and procedure development, revisions, and implementation.
  • Develop and deliver program-specific training related to quality improvement, documentation, coding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support implementation teams by providing guidance on new projects, forms, workflows, and agency initiatives.
  • Facilitate quality improvement workgroups, meetings, conference calls, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as a resource to program leadership regarding policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and quality initiatives.
  • Provide consultation regarding clinical documentation and coding best practices.
  • Support client and family service concerns related to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison with managed care organizations (MCOs), administrative service organizations (ASOs), and other contract partners.
  • Participate in agency committees, community meetings, and regional workgroups that support quality improvement and organizational excellence.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled supervision, meetings, and required trainings.
What You BringEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or another related field required.
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Current Washington State licensure (or equivalent) in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of direct behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience designing and facilitating training for small and medium-sized groups preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and current automobile insurance required, if applicable.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the five-county service area.

  • Ability to lead collaborative workgroups and engage staff in organizational change.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Zoom; experience with PowerPoint and Visio preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, which may include an additional DSHS review.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position primarily operates in an administrative office environment with occasional travel throughout Compass Health's service region. Hybrid work arrangements are available. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and regularly sit, stand, walk, speak, and use close vision. The work environment is generally moderate in noise level.
