Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbia, SC, joining one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing strategic communications firms. The role involves supporting the development and execution of strategic communications plans for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. Day-to-day responsibilities may include drafting media pitches, talking points, press releases, briefs, and digital content; conducting research on policy, market trends, and stakeholders; and assisting in media monitoring and analysis. The team member will help manage projects, coordinate with clients and partners, and contribute to messaging frameworks that address complex issues at local, national, and global levels. The role also includes participating in internal strategy sessions, supporting event and campaign planning, and helping ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across all client engagements.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive messaging for diverse audiences.
- Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, public policy, political science, international affairs, journalism, or a related field.
- Ability to conduct structured research, synthesize complex information, and prepare briefings or summaries that inform strategic recommendations.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest in public policy, government affairs, geopolitics, or corporate communications, with a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
- Proficiency with standard office and collaboration tools; familiarity with media monitoring platforms and basic digital/ social media best practices is a plus.
- Capacity to work effectively on-site in Columbia, SC, as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
- Previous internship or professional experience in a communications firm, government office, advocacy organization, or corporate communications environment is preferred.
Compensation Range
$40,000 - $45,000
