What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Driver position at Compass Audio Visual?
*FREELANCE DRIVERS NEEDED*
- Compass Audio Visual is an AV production company based in Richardson, TX who supplies AV services for corporate events across the US and we are in need of freelance drivers!
- Work is occasionally local in the DFW area, but typically it consists of driving throughout the US to major cities where events are taking place.
- No CDL is required as the main vehicles used are high roof cargo vans, but they can range up to a 26' box truck depending on the event size.
- Must be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport goods and materials to designated locations.
- Must be 25 or older, able to pass a background check and drug test, and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be comfortable driving approximately 10 hours a day.
- Must adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving and operating any vehicle.
- Must be comfortable with highway driving along with driving in large cities (i.e. LA, NYC, Boston…) with heavy traffic.
- Must be willing and able to lift and maneuver heavy/bulky AV cases, as needed, for loading the vehicle and loading in/out of the venue.
- Must be comfortable with flying, as drivers often need to fly into a city to pick up a vehicle and drive to the next destination; or drive a vehicle to a destination and fly home.
- Must be flexible and adaptable, as last-minute event changes may require different driving routes to new cities.
- Must have strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and customers.
- Must be comfortable emailing and have access to a personal computer to complete transportation logs.
- This is a freelance position. Drivers must complete a W-9.
- Drivers are paid a flat driving rate of $250/day along with $65/day of per diem.
- Drivers are supplied with a Compass AV gas card during a run. Drives must complete a transportation log detailing mileage and gas purchases along with providing pictures of receipts.
- Driver routes are pre-planned by Compass AV & driver hotels are prepaid ahead of each run. Personal credit cards are needed for checking in to cover hotel incidentals.
- Driver flights (if needed) are pre-booked by Compass AV.
- Drivers who must remain in an event city for one to two “dead” days (while the event is taking place) ahead of driving onto the next location are paid half a day rate, $125/day, along with $65/day per diem. A hotel is provided during the dead days.
- Drivers submit invoices to Compass, after each run, for driving day rates, per diem, dead days (if applicable) and any miscellaneous reimbursable expenses (Uber to/from airport, luggage fees, etc. along with corresponding receipts) and are paid within two weeks via ACH. Manual checks can be sent, if preferred. Drivers must also complete their transportation log before invoices are processed.
