Position Summary
Compal USA Technology is seeking an experienced SMT Quality Engineer to support quality operations for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and PCBA manufacturing of next-generation AI servers and cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for driving product quality through failure analysis, process audits, statistical process control (SPC), customer quality support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The SMT Quality Engineer partners with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supplier Quality, Test Engineering, and Production to support New Product Introduction (NPI) through high-volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure SMT/PCBA product quality through audits, inspections, failure analysis, and process improvements.
- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and CAPA methodologies.
- Monitor SPC data, analyze quality trends, and improve yield, FPY, and process capability.
- Develop and maintain ISO 9001 quality documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and inspection standards.
- Support customer audits, complaint investigations, and corrective actions.
- Conduct internal process audits to ensure compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements.
- Support NPI by developing quality plans, inspection criteria, PFMEAs, and validation activities.
- Participate in ECO/ECN reviews and prepare quality metrics and reports for management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in SMT/PCBA or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Failure Analysis, SPC, CAPA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and ISO 9001.
- Experience with IPC-A-610; IPC-J-STD-001 certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with AOI, SPI, X-Ray inspection, BGA inspection, and quality analysis tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ERP/MES systems (SAP preferred).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
