Position Summary
Compal USA Technology is seeking a detail-oriented SMT Quality Assurance Engineer to support quality assurance activities for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and PCBA manufacturing of next-generation AI servers, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology solutions. This role is responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), developing inspection standards, conducting audits, leading root cause investigations, and driving continuous quality improvement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Production teams to ensure products meet customer requirements, IPC standards, and internal quality expectations from New Product Introduction (NPI) through mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain quality procedures, inspection standards, and quality documentation.
- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and CAPA methodologies.
- Support NPI by developing quality control plans and validating production readiness.
- Conduct internal, supplier, and customer quality audits while supporting corrective actions.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications to establish product acceptance criteria.
- Train production personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, and IPC requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve yield, and enhance overall product quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- 3–5 years of quality assurance experience in SMT, PCBA, or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, root cause analysis, CAPA, and quality auditing.
- Experience with SMT processes, AOI, X-Ray inspection, ERP/MES systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- ASQ CQE/CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt, or IPC certification is preferred.
