Automation Engineer
Job Summary
At Compal Electronics, we are building the future of intelligent manufacturing. As an Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and scaling advanced automation solutions that power our server manufacturing operations.
From robotic cells and smart conveyors to AGVs and automated test/packaging systems, you will help drive innovation, increase efficiency, and enable high-volume production through cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated solutions across assembly, testing, and packaging processes
- Integrate advanced systems including conveyors, sensors, AGVs, and ASRS into end-to-end manufacturing lines
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, robotics, and automated equipment to ensure peak performance
- Develop and deploy automated build and test cells for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production
- Drive continuous improvement by increasing machine uptime, reducing manual labor, and enhancing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Develop automation logic, scripts, and system interfaces to support smart manufacturing initiatives
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Industrial, and Process Engineering teams to identify and execute automation opportunities
- Ensure all automation systems meet safety, compliance, and operational standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), robotics, or motion control systems
- Strong understanding of sensors, machine vision, and industrial communication protocols
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AGVs, ASRS, or collaborative robotics (cobots)
- Programming experience in Python, C#, or Ladder Logic
- Knowledge of OEE, machine availability, and predictive maintenance strategies
