🚀 Position Overview

We are seeking a senior-level Operations Support Specialist 4 (OSS 4) to support Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) and construction operations within a Hazard Category 2 nuclear facility at LANL.

This role is ideal for a high-level construction leader who can operate beyond traditional project execution—someone who can anticipate risk, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe, compliant delivery of complex nuclear work.

You will serve as a key interface between facility operations and construction teams, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOE standards.

🎯 What We’re Targeting (Top Candidate Profile)

  • Strong construction management experience in DOE or nuclear environments

  • Proven ability to lead field teams in high-hazard radiological facilities

  • Experience supporting D&D, facility modifications, or nuclear construction projects

  • Ability to see ahead, anticipate issues, and drive execution proactively

  • Background in DOE, NNSA, or highly regulated industries (Navy Nuclear, oil & gas, etc.)

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee construction and D&D operations in a CAT II nuclear facility

  • Ensure safe, compliant, and timely execution of all project deliverables

  • Coordinate across engineering, operations, work control, and subcontractors

  • Provide technical oversight and direction to field teams and project personnel

  • Manage budgets, schedules, and performance tracking

  • Ensure compliance with DOE regulations, NQA-1, and Laboratory standards

  • Develop and improve processes, documentation, and operational workflows

  • Serve as a key decision-maker in resolving complex field issues

✅ Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in construction or operations

  • Demonstrated experience:

    • Leading construction teams in nuclear or highly regulated environments

    • Supporting field execution, work control, or project operations

    • Working in complex, high-risk environments with multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance

🔥 Highly Desired (Will Set You Apart)

  • 15 years of construction experience (strongly preferred)

  • DOE / NNSA project experience (5 years preferred)

  • Experience in D&D projects or nuclear facility modifications

  • Previous qualifications as:

    • Field Work Supervisor (FWS)

    • Responsible Line Manager (RLM)

  • Experience working in plutonium facilities (TA-55 / PF4)

  • Strong understanding of NQA-1, quality assurance, and compliance frameworks

💡 Core Competencies (What Hiring Managers Care About)

  • Ability to lead and coordinate construction teams in radiological environments

  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Excellent time management, tracking, and execution discipline

  • Proactive mindset—anticipates issues before they impact execution

📍 Additional Details

  • Location: TA-55 PF4 (Plutonium Facility), LANL

  • 100% onsite role in a secure nuclear environment

  • Per diem available for qualified candidates

  • Long-term, mission-critical work supporting D&D and construction operations

🚫 Deal Breakers

  • No experience managing construction activities in DOE CAT II or NRC nuclear facilities
