What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Assistant Manager position at Compact Industries Inc?
PURPOSE:
Monitor and maintain the Plant’s Quality Systems to ensure compliance to regulatory, federal, and local laws. Provide support for HACCP functions, collaborate in the development of new quality systems/programs across the facility, and provide Quality support/resources for commercialization projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and improve Quality Assurance programs to ensure all customer requirements are met or exceeded.
- Enforce GMP, HACCP, allergen, and food safety policies.
- Follow up on customer complaints by investigating, completing a corrective action report, and ensuring the corrective actions have been implemented.
- Ensure all items on hold have a disposition and have been communicated to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in customer and 3rd party audits.
- Knowledgeable on the FSMA plan.
- Maintain the quality management system (SafetyChain).
- Be available at any time for any quality issues/questions/concerns that arise.
- Develop corrective actions for quality deficiencies and monitor for effectiveness.
- Develop and implement SOPs.
- Review SOPs, forms, and policies for compliance.
- Ensure the Quality Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians are performing their work according to procedures. Address individuals who are not compliant.
- Work with the production departments to ensure maximum production is achieved without compromising food product quality or safety.
- Review weight control reports and implement changes as necessary.
- Oversee the evaluation of the isolation of non-conforming items.
- Use continuous improvement tools to reduce the cost of quality at the company.
- Supervision tasks such as conflict resolution, providing information and tools to assist in performing jobs effectively, and evaluating job performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of experience in management, supervision, quality control, food background, or regulatory environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or food related sciences.
- Proficient knowledge required in the use of Microsoft suite programs.
- Knowledge with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Represent Compact Industries, Inc. in a professional manner when dealing with customers, vendors, and external auditors.
- Knowledgeable of FDA, GMPs, and HACCP.
- SQF certification is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
- Able to communicate thoughts, write procedures, and give directions.
- Be organized, attentive to detail and consistently accurate along with multi-tasking.
- Possess decision-making and leadership skills.
- Work productively and effectively both independently or as a leader or member of a team.
