What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Machine Operator- Second Shift position at COMPACT INDUSTRIES INC?
Second Shift: 3 pm - 1 am
PURPOSE:
Lead and oversee the operation of up to two machines, coordinating all activities on the packaging line to ensure maximum efficiency. Drive team collaboration and guide team members to optimize productivity and maintain smooth workflow operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and understand Compact’s finished product specifications to manufacture and package a quality product which meets all customer and Compact specifications.
- Start machine and observe operation to detect malfunctions with the machine, if required make minor adjustments and repairs.
- Direct, train, and correct behaviors of Packers and Stackers on the production line.
- Run equipment at designed rates, troubleshoot problems and reduce equipment downtime.
- Stop machine if product does not meet specifications or is malfunctioning and report this stoppage to supervisor.
- Maximize packaging yields and efficiency while eliminating waste.
- Provide break relief for Packers and Stackers.
- Oversee and open all products that need rework.
- Perform machine disassembly, washes, and reassembly.
- Set up and monitor checkweigher.
- Monitor metal detectors to ensure they are working properly.
- Complete production forms using SafetyChain.
- Advise supervisor on any order or raw material shortages.
- Understand and be able to apply each of the following programs during production: Allergen (especially during changeovers), HACCP, GMPs.
- Understand the importance of when the product does not meet specifications, work with other departments to correct the deviation as soon as possible.
- Keep the work area clean.
- Active participation in training and attend department meetings as required.
- Follow and enforce all safety and GMP procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- Stand or walk 95% of the time and perform bending, twisting, and stooping motions.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to calculate simple mathematical figures.
- Ability to apply common sense and effectively follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
- Problem solving and addressing issues as they arise.
- Ability to troubleshooting and resolve issues efficiently.
