Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Senior Construction Engineer position at the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in Aiken, South Carolina.
Salary: $75/hr - $81/hr
Location: Aiken, South Carolina (onsite)
Citizenship: US citizenship required
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week utilizing various schedules including 5/8s, 4/10's, and 9/80's. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables.
Clearance: DOE "Q" security clearance required (must be able to obtain and maintain)
Impact
This Senior Construction Engineer position provides critical engineering support to ensure construction activities at DOE nuclear facilities are executed safely, meet the highest quality standards, and stay on cost and schedule. You will serve as the technical bridge between design, construction, and operations, ensuring materials, equipment, and workmanship meet design requirements while coordinating across multiple disciplines to support mission-critical facility construction and system turnover activities.
Responsibilities And Duties
  • Provide engineering support to superintendents and crafts, verifies materials, equipment, workmanship and assures results meet design requirements
  • Assure construction activities are executed in a safe manner with the highest quality standards possible while monitoring the cost and schedule of any given work activity
  • Interface and coordinate all aspects of construction with design, procurement, security, safety, operations, health physics, quality control, scheduling, cost and management
  • Develop construction scope turnover packages and coordinate systems completion and test activities in support of the turnover schedule
  • Direct the preparation of work packages and familiarize craft in specific work package requirements
  • Maintain continuity with quality control to ensure work quality meets the requirements
  • Coordinate with design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes
  • Lead constructability program in area and provide technical expertise for construction methods and practices
  • Responsible to ensure that construction work is done correctly and completely
  • Provide technical and programmatic direction to subordinate construction engineering personnel as required
  • Provide construction testing and start-up services for construction projects
  • Administer assigned subcontracts
  • Provide for nonconformance report and corrective action request dispositioning
  • Design temporary construction facilities as requested by managers
  • Assist in establishing maintenance requirements for all permanent plant equipment
  • Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure materials, equipment and workmanship comply with contract documents
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5-7 years of practical experience in construction engineering or related areas. An Associate's degree and 7-9 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 10-14 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
  • General knowledge of system testing and operations to ensure system turnover scope is adequate in regard to pre-operational testing
  • Leadership training in methods improvement
  • High familiarity with ASME codes and B31.3 pressure boundary systems
  • Strong understanding of constructability reviews and able to communicate the review process with the design authorities
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional teams and communicating issues as they arise and see them resolved
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5-7 years of practical experience in construction engineering or related areas
  • OR Associate's degree and 7-9 years of practical experience
  • OR High school diploma and 10-14 years of practical experience
