Salary: $83/hr - $89/hr

Citizenship: US citizenship required
Work Schedule: Up to 40-hour work week utilizing various schedules including 5/8s, 4/10's, and 9/80's. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Provide architectural staff augmentation services including analysis of existing facilities and space planning; development of design criteria, facility conceptual design, and construction drawings
- Design fire protection systems including fire barriers and penetration seals
- Coordinate with structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Conduct materials research and specification development
- Perform building code research, analysis, and compliance
- Prepare CSI specifications
- Conduct vendor document reviews, construction oversight, and project closeout
- Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization to resolve complex problems
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and complex features into problem solving and program planning
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems
- Provide direction on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles
- Evaluate results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations
- Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution
- Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed
- Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues and management
- Occasionally prepare reports for external publication
- Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles
- Perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for engineering work being performed
- Provide engineering services using SRNS processes and procedures
- Industrial experience in facility layout design for industrial-type equipment and manufacturing
- Commercial practice experience
- Familiarity with National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, OSHA, CFR and ABA
- Working knowledge of NFPA Life Safety Code 101
- Knowledge of preparation of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) formatted specifications
- Passive Fire Protection Design Skills β Fire Barriers/Penetration Seals
- Working knowledge of MicroStation CADD (AutoCAD experience with willingness to learn MicroStation is acceptable)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance
- Ability to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site involving construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing
- Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience
- Familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities
- Facility security architectural experience
- Familiarity with cost estimating and quantity takeoffs
- Architectural Registration
- Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
- Expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies
- BS Degree in Architecture and 10 years' recent architectural experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
- OR Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5 years' experience
- OR MS degree with 8 years' experience
- OR BS degree with 10 years' experience or more
