What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asset Recovery Specialist position at Community South Credit Union?
Community South Credit Union is looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Asset Recovery Specialist to join our Solutions team. In this role, you'll help protect the credit union's assets while working directly with members to find solutions during challenging financial situations.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in collections, loan servicing, bankruptcy, repossessions, or financial services who enjoys problem-solving, organization, and making a positive impact.
What You'll Do
- Manage repossessions from assignment through sale, including title work, documentation, and deficiency notices
- Process bankruptcies, foreclosures, charge-offs, and recovery accounts while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with attorneys, repossession agencies, investigators, and other third-party partners
- Assist members with account questions, payment options, delinquent accounts, and recovery solutions
- Process ACH and in-house distributions accurately and timely
- Handle total loss and GAP insurance claims and refunds
- Maintain accurate account records and prepare monthly reports and reconciliations
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely resolution of complex account issues
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience in banking, credit unions, collections, asset recovery, loan servicing, or financial services preferred
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial software systems
