Work Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Position Summary
Bright Beginnings Childcare Center is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. This seasonal position plays a key role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children throughout the summer months. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance may be considered for full-time employment beyond the summer season.
Key Responsibilities
Child Supervision & Engagement
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care
- Lead and participate in daily activities including games, crafts, outdoor play, and group learning experiences
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun environment for all campers
Activity Planning & Implementation
- Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate summer camp activities
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, and active participation among children
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of different age groups
Classroom & Behavior Support
- Promote positive behavior and assist children with conflict resolution
- Maintain a structured daily schedule and smooth transitions between activities
- Support lead staff and administration as needed
Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Ensure compliance with all center policies and safety procedures
- Follow proper supervision and child-to-staff ratio guidelines
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other counselors and staff
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
- Assist with special events, field days, and themed camp activities
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must meet all West Virginia childcare licensing requirements for employment in a licensed childcare facility
- High school diploma or equivalent required (or currently enrolled, if applicable)
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Energetic, positive, and patient demeanor
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, active environment
- Ability to lift, move, and actively engage with children throughout the day
