CMHA is looking to hire a Private Practice Clinical Director for Flourish to Better Health. This position will be located in Middlebury, CT.

Compensation Range: The annual salary range for this position starts at$90,000.

Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. CMHA also takes into consideration our benefits and paid time off package to provide a well-rounded and competitive approach to the applicant’s overall compensation.

Position Summary

A Clinical Director will serve as both a clinical leader and a business strategist. The Clinical Director will oversee the delivery of patient care, ensuring that therapy and counseling services meet the highest professional and ethical standards, while also supervising and mentoring clinical staff. The Clinical Director will act as a business leader by managing operations, budgets, and compliance, building relationships with referral sources, and guiding the growth of the practice. This dual role requires balancing the needs of patients, staff, insurers, and community partners, while driving organizational success through strong leadership, operational efficiency, and a clear vision for the practice’s future.

As the Business/Clinical Leader, you will be the strategic and operational force behind Flourish to Better Health’s growth. This hybrid role blends clinical insight with business acumen, empowering the Clinical Director to shape the future of the practice while ensuring exceptional care delivery. The Clinical Director will lead with purpose, build with passion, and drive innovation across all aspects of the business.

Essential Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Design and implement growth strategies to expand services, patient base, and revenue
  • Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and referral networks
  • Oversee branding, marketing, and community engagement initiatives
  • Monitor KPIs and financial performance to ensure sustainable growth

Clinical Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise clinical staff and ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory standards
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and refine clinical workflows to enhance patient experience and efficiency
  • Ensure integration of evidence-based care with innovative wellness approaches

Team Building & Culture

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier clinical talent
  • Promote a supportive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace
  • Lead team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews
  • Flourishes internal team of therapists and staff, all of whom rely on the Clinical Director to ensure quality care, compliance, and smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health (psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, alcohol and drug counseling).
  • CT Licensure in behavioral health discipline (LCSW, LADC, LMFT, LPC, PhD, PsyD)
  • CT Driver’s License
  • Minimum 5–10 years of direct clinical experience in counseling, psychology, or behavioral health.
  • Proven supervisory experience overseeing therapists or clinical teams.
  • Five (5) Years of experience in behavioral health field inclusive of a minimum of three (3) years of behavioral health management experience within an adult mental health service agency setting.
  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience with adults and/or children with severe and prolonged mental illness; two (2) years of demonstrated competency in clinical supervision.
  • Experience working in an inner city and/or multi-service agency preferred.
