Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies principles of Radiation Safety to protect patients, staff, and self during all procedures.
- Provides compassionate and effective Patient Care , explaining procedures clearly and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Assists with and learns proper Radiographic Positioning techniques to achieve optimal diagnostic images.
- Utilizes foundational Medical Terminology to accurately document and communicate patient information and procedure details.
- Applies knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology to understand imaging requirements and interpret radiographic findings.
- Operates X-ray equipment under supervision for Image Acquisition , ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.
- Demonstrates excellent Communication Skills when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adheres strictly to Infection Control protocols to maintain a sterile environment and prevent the spread of pathogens.
- Learns to navigate and utilize the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for image retrieval, viewing, and management.
- Becomes proficient in X-ray Equipment Operation , including setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
- Collaborates with supervising technologists and healthcare staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
- Maintains accurate patient records and documentation according to established guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Maintains satisfactory academic progress as defined by the program.
Experience
- Completes required clinical rotations as part of the accredited program.
Knowledge/Skills
- Possesses a foundational understanding of Radiation Safety principles.
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing excellent Patient Care .
- Learns and applies basic Radiographic Positioning techniques.
- Understands and utilizes common Medical Terminology .
- Applies knowledge of basic Anatomy and Physiology .
- Develops skills in Image Acquisition and quality assessment.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and Communication Skills .
- Adheres to Infection Control standards.
- Shows aptitude for learning PACS and other clinical software.
- Learns the safe and effective X-ray Equipment Operation .
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Holds current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Achieves a strong academic record within the Radiologic Technology program.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Stands and walks for extended periods.
- Bends , stoops , and reaches to position patients and equipment.
- Lifts and moves patients, often weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and more with assistance.
- Works in a fast-paced clinical environment with varying noise levels.
- Handles exposure to radiation, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and wearing protective gear.
- Possesses visual acuity to review images and operate equipment.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.
