WHAT WE NEED:


The Assistant Carpenter role is a full-time, non-exempt position that serves various Community Associations in the Greater Portland Metro Area. Insurance wants candidates to be 25 years or older, have a valid driver’s license, and pass a driving record screening to meet their requirements.


The hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with 30 minutes for an unpaid lunch. These hours could change based on the needs of our clients, and some overtime may be necessary, but not consistently required. 

  • A candidate will demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years of carpentry experience and skills to include, without limitation: general carpentry and basic framing; siding repair/replacement support; deck and fence construction assistance; demolition and site preparation; material handling, moving, and staging; digging, assisting with footings, and light excavation; and job site cleanup and maintain safe, organized work areas
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments including crawlspaces, attics, and exterior building areas
  • Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality; takes direction well and follows through on tasks
  • Basic understanding of construction tools and willingness to learn proper use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and communicate effectively (verbally & in writing) with team members and supervisors
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and support independent tasks as directed
  • Minor sheetrock repair and painting knowledge/skills are preferred
  • Full physical dexterity: comfortability with high or tight spaces is required
  • Able to: lift 60 lbs, use power equipment safely, perform basic mathematical calculations, and write a daily log
  • Required to have full set of employee-owned, battery-operated tools, in addition to hand tools, to effectively perform the job duties (CMI will provide more specialized tools/equipment)
  • Candidates must supply 3 professional references supporting their abilities in these areas
