About Community Interface Services

We are a local nonprofit that has been serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1983. At the core of our services, we believe that people with intellectual/developmental disabilities are in the best position to determine how they want to live, and that they should be valued and included in society.

Key Responsibilities

As a Community Engagement Aide, you will be working with one individual who is interested in participating in their local community. This person enjoys volunteering at the local cat shelter, pursuing their hobbies, and exploring different parts of the community. As you work together with this person, you will:

• Support them in exploring volunteer opportunities and their local community
• Plan social and recreational activities to expand on their network
• Assist with mobility training to increase independence in accessing the community
• Accompany this person to their part time job and provide job coaching
• Develop and implement a plan of direct support for their personal goals
• Document progress, work with a larger team to analyze metrics and determine future steps

This human services position works Monday through Friday and work locations include Oceanside to Vista.

The starting range is $23- $25 per hour, and earn a $1 per hour pay increase after completing a six-month development and performance program! Future professional development opportunities include ongoing training and a unique leadership development program which leads to future pay increase and promotion opportunities.

To be successful at Community Interface Services, you'll need to possess a unique set of skills and qualities: exceptional customer service skills resourcefulness, and teaching skills. You will need to have a car in safe working order, vehicle insurance, a valid CA driver's license, at least 2 years of driving experience, and the ability to pass a background check. A high school diploma is required for this human services position, bachelor's in a social science preferred. Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is also preferred.
