Position Summary:
The Midlevel Nurse Practitioner delivers clinical care in assigned specialty areas, functioning as a fully accountable colleague to physicians and clinic teams through collaborative care. This role supports integrated care coordination (behavioral and oral health) and value-based transformation efforts, promoting and restoring patient health by prescribing, providing, delegating, evaluating, and coordinating comprehensive care for patients of all ages, genders, cultures, and backgrounds — including physical and psycho-social support for patients and families. This position may also coordinate student nursing staff and clinic volunteers and is responsible for always maintaining patient/client confidentiality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Care Delivery
· Advances improvements in patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis and delivery of relevant, high-quality medical care.
· Provides comprehensive patient care including physical assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment of new and existing medical conditions.
· Initiates and interprets labs and x-rays; performs medical procedures and assists physicians with procedures as requested.
· Prescribes medications and refers patients for specialized consultation, using prescriptive authority as appropriate.
· Performs emergency life-saving procedures (e.g., cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage) and participates among front-line medical providers in emergency disaster services.
· Conducts follow-up patient care and completes progress notes indicating patient status and treatment performed.
· Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the health care center.
Documentation & Compliance
· Ensures accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality in patient charting and related recordkeeping and administrative functions.
· Ensures the delivery of all medical treatment and care is consistent with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including clinical policies and quality initiatives.
· Understands and ensures all practices and procedures related to service delivery are consistent with contracted protocols and procedures.
Relationship Management & Team Collaboration
· Develops and maintains positive relationships with patients and families; obtains patient commitment to an effective plan of care and ensures services are delivered in a caring, professional manner.
· Develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, and administrative and clinic operations staff to support successful clinic operations.
· Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization professionally at all times.
· Provides health education to patients, families, associates, and the public; teaches and trains on illness prevention and actively participates in community health education.
Quality & Regulatory Standards
· Meets or exceeds all measurable standards of care, including clinical, quality, and productivity goals.
· Contributes to quality assurance and improvement programs and patient-centered medical home transformation success.
· Upholds and ensures compliance with all corporate policies and procedures, as well as the organization's overall mission and values.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education & Licensure
· Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Nursing or an advanced degree and relevant certification in medicine.
· Valid Kansas medical license required.
Experience & Technical Knowledge:
· Demonstrated expertise in relevant medical practices, protocols, trends, and best practices within assigned clinical areas.
· Knowledge of the principles and practices of preventative medicine.
· Experience with and knowledge of JCAHO accreditation requirements, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards for care delivery in a community health center environment.
· Proficiency in office management practices, computer use, software packages, and standard office equipment.
· Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergency situations successfully.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Occasional lifting of 40–50 lbs and pushing of 5–20 lbs.
- Sitting, standing, and walking approximately 80% of the time.
- Medium to high level of manual dexterity required.
- Bending and reaching approximately 20% of the time.
- Ability to travel and maintain mobility throughout the region as required.
- Overtime/extended work hours may be required.
