POSITION TITLE: Accounting/Finance Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director and Board of Directors
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management and fund accounting principles preferred
- Experience in accounting, finance, or nonprofit fiscal operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong overall computer skills, including database entry and management
- Experience working with accounting systems and maintaining accurate financial records
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial data entry and reporting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a mission-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical stewardship of donor and organizational funds
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all financial operations of the Foundation, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank and investment reconciliations
- Maintain accurate fund accounting records aligned with nonprofit reporting standards
- Prepare quarterly financial statements and investment performance reports for Board review
- Present financial reports to the Board of Directors at quarterly meetings in a clear and accessible format
- Oversee and maintain organized financial recordkeeping systems
- Coordinate the annual audit and Form 990 preparation in collaboration with external auditors
- Prepare required state and federal financial reports, including census and insurance-related filings
- Coordinate, monitor, and oversee outsourced payroll services
- Develop and prepare the annual operating budget in alignment with organizational goals and donor intent
- Coordinate and execute all phases of continuous grant and scholarship cycles, including award processing, payment distribution, and donor stewardship tracking
- Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide recommendations to leadership
- Support the Executive Director and Board with financial insight to guide strategic and mission-driven decision-making
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
