Position Summary

The Housing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the families we serve on the Housing Choice Voucher program meet the Federal and State laws, regulations, and guidelines. In addition, this role conducts eligibility interviews, issue vouchers, oversees lease-ups, conducts annual recertifications and manage tenant data for accurate rent calculations, handle inquiries, process tenant transfers, conduct tenant conferences, and ensure compliance with program requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide an overview of the program to applicants 
  • Ensure the proposed rent aligns with market standards and oversee the submission of tenancy forms for inspection.
  • Oversee and maintain a designated caseload, involving the collection and review of family documentation, including income details, while ensuring compliance with program requirements by tenants and property owners.
  • Revise data as needed in response to changes in income or pertinent information.
  • Verify that all entered data is thorough, precise, and adheres to applicable program rules and regulations.
  • Ensure accurate calculations for rent subsidies.
  • Make recommendations for file terminations when needed.

 Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in case management or client services in a human services environment, housing complex, or real estate organization is required. 
  • Must attain housing choice voucher certification within six months of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working well with others. 
  • Proactive, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Salary : $48,000 - $48,500
