CommUnity Crisis Services seeks passionate and qualified Crisis Counselors to join our expanding Mobile Crisis Response Program. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide critical support to individuals facing mental health and related crises right in their own communities. You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to innovative solutions and making a lasting impact on lives, as well as gain skills related to suicide prevention and de-escalation.
Schedule:
- 24/7/365 program with flexible availabilty
- Shifts available throughout the week across all shifts on a PRN (as needed) basis
- Expected 4-19 hours per week with fluctuations depending on staff availability
Responsibilities:
- Respond to mobile crisis dispatches and provide on-site crisis counseling and suicide risk screening, safety planning, and resource referral.
- Transport clients in agency vehicles when needed to crisis stabilization or hospitals.
- Document client interactions and communicate effectively with team members and agency partners.
- Complete required client records and maintain program materials.
- Follow up with clients, make referrals, and collaborate with healthcare providers.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
ONE of the following:
- Licensed mental health professional
- Bachelor's degree in human services with 1 year of behavioral/mental health experience
- Law enforcement/EMT/Peer Support Specialist with 2 years of relevant experience
- Associate's degree/high school diploma with 2 years' mental health / behavioral health experience
Additional Requirements:
- Pass needed background checks and have valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation and working phone.
- Ability to handle demanding situations and client crises, including ability to have upfront, honest discussion about suicide and risk factors.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and independent work skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Crisis intervention and suicide prevention experience.
- Familiarity with community resources and diverse populations.
- Trauma-informed care practices and ability to work well under pressure.
- Bilingualism in Spanish, Arabic, French, or Swahili (highly valued).
- Commitment to team collaboration and professional development.
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and sensitivity to client needs.
- Basic computer and phone operation skills.
