Community Connections, Inc. is seeking outgoing southwest Colorado residents (living in Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, or San Juan County) to serve as Community Ambassadors for Southwest Colorado Cares, a new program of Community Connections. Community Ambassadors will bring awareness and connections to community resources that improve the health and well-being of our communities. In this role, you'll talk to your family, friends, neighbors, and other community members about Southwest Colorado Cares and the types of resources that exist in our region to meet basic needs such as food, housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social supports. You’ll also work with community organizations to keep the Southwest Colorado Cares resource directory up to date as the go-to guide for finding local resources. At this time, we have 5 openings for this position, one for each of the counties listed above. This is a hybrid position, part-time up to 7 hours per week, with flexibility in schedule. It is hourly and non-exempt. Hourly wage is $20.00, plus travel reimbursement.

Job Description: Community Ambassadors will help community members know what resources are available in the region to improve the health and well-being of our communities. The Community Ambassador will talk to family, friends, neighbors, and other community members about Southwest Colorado Cares and the types of resources that exist in our region to meet basic needs such as food, housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social supports. The Community Ambassador will also work with community organizations to keep the Southwest Colorado Cares resource directory up to date as the go-to guide for finding local resources.
Community Ambassadors will be part of a regional team and work up to 7 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
• Share information about Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC) and its resources with neighbors, community members, and community organizations
• Contact community organizations in your area to make sure SWCC has up-to-date information about local resources
• Represent SWCC at community gatherings, meetings, and events
• Gather ideas from the community to enhance and improve SWCC
Core Competencies/Qualifications:
• Ability to enthusiastically communicate with others about Southwest Colorado Cares and community resources that improve health and well-being.
• Strong community ties and passionate about making it easier for community members to get connected to resources to meet their basic needs.
• Ability to represent the lived experience of marginalized groups within our communities.
• Ability to travel, by car or public transportation, throughout your county of residence and occasionally to regional meetings at Community Connections offices in Durango or in other communities in the region.
• Comfortable using phone, email, and videoconferencing to communicate with Southwest Colorado Cares staff, other Ambassadors, and community members or organizations.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
• Adequate internet connectivity, work area and ability to secure all work activity when working remotely
• Use of standard office equipment
• Effective written and in-person communication
• Ability to commute for business, when needed. If driving, must possess a drivers’ license in the state they reside and current auto insurance.
• Satisfactory completion of all background checks and references, including Motor Vehicle Record is required.

Physical Demands of the Job: These essential tasks may be performed with or without accommodations or assistive technology. Employees in this position may spend significant hours on the computer writing and corresponding. The employee must be able to read text on the computer and paper documents. Communicating with others via email, letters and telephone is required. An employee in this position will use a laptop computer and may also have documents and files that they will need to transport within and outside the office. The employee will be required to attend meetings, training, home visits and other community activities within the region of Southwest Colorado.
