Class Description
The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Assistant Director of Welding and Technical Training, with a strong emphasis on advancing and expanding our welding programs. We are looking for an industry-experienced professional who is passionate about elevating welding education, strengthening workforce pathways, and supporting the operational and instructional success of our technical training initiatives.
In this role, you will oversee staff, manage day-to-day operations, and contribute to the growth of programs across welding technology programs. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Five years (5) experience in construction or industrial sectors, trades, or technical program management required. Experience in any of the following welding roles is highly preferred: supervisor, inspector, engineer, specialist, instructor, or technical training program leader. Of the five years’ experience two of those years must be in a supervisory capacity. Licensure/certification related to education, workforce development, or program management preferred. Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license with moving violation points less than five (5).

- Provide direct supervision and evaluation to assigned staff.
- Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
- Design, develop and implement department programs or initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, and requirements.

- Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.

- Develop new courses (including meeting accreditation and/or certification standards) and course series.
- Provide superior customer service and problem-solving to both students and contract training clients.
- Maintain robust connections/relationships with relevant certifying organizations and agencies.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Welding Technology training programs.
- Plan, schedule, and manage the college’s Welding Technology classes
- Accurately forecast, and track, annual unit revenue and FTE generation.
- Develop and achieve personal and business goals, and budgets that contribute to the unit and divisional goals and business plans.
- Target and close contracts with existing and potential training customers.
- Manage vendor provided training partnerships.
- Manage the overall operation of the College’s Welding Technology training facilities.
- Recruit, select, train and supervise related staff.
- Represent and promote the college at affinity groups, professional and business associations and community and networking events.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with all relevant stakeholders.
- Counsel and advise students.
