Community Child Care Center at our Colfax center is now hiring a Full- Time Lead Teacher!

Position: Lead Teacher

Immediate Supervisor: Colfax Program Manager

Position Full Time ( 12 months)

Objective: The lead teacher is directly responsible for the care and education of children, ensuring that the classroom and educational program meet the mission of CCCC and complies with all program standards, policies, and procedures specific to the program. The lead teacher will also serve as a positive role model to the staff, parents and children and will supervise the planning of a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for the children enrolled in the program.

Qualifications / Job Preferences: An BS/BA degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in early childhood education (credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree) or a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-Grade3) or Early Childhood Special Education. Employees may be provisionally hired if they agree to sign a Professional Development Plan describing how the employee will meet qualifications in a 1 year period.

Job Requirements:

1. Be able to follow and carry out duties and responsibilities as described in the CCCC Policies and Procedures Manual, staff handbook, licensing requirements, and other written guides and materials.

2. Be able to keep accurate records, documentation, and organize work effectively.

3. Be able to successfully communicate and work positively with parents, co-workers, and community professionals.

4. Receive a current TB screening and complete a physical examination, which verifies physical constraint job requirements.

5. Fulfill all job training requirements i.e. First Aid / CPR, Blood borne pathogens.

6. Complete 30 hours of STAR’s training within first year of hire or receive an educational exemption.

7. Successfully pass a background check as required by CCCC.

8. Have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Essential functions / major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Direct Classroom Service:

1. Curriculum:

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, which meet the individual needs of all children with concern for their interests, culture, special needs, individual style and pace of learning.

Provide a learning environment designed to enhance social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, and physical/health development of each child.

Implement a balanced daily schedule that includes opportunities for indoor activities, quiet and active periods, individual, small group or active play and meeting personal needs.

Conduct screenings, on going assessments and continual observations on children. Maintain progress records of each child’s growth and development and prepare reports and portfolios to be reviewed by parents.

Provide positive and appropriate child guidance techniques.

2. Environment/Health and Safety:

Assure classroom sanitation (bleaching tables, clean-up, dusting, sweeping, etc.) are done on a regular basis. This includes maintaining storage rooms, the outdoor play environment and performing regular inspections to assure all equipment and facilities are in good working order.

Ensure that parent bulletin boards and classroom displays are kept up to date and properly maintained.

Maintain and track materials/supplies assigned to the classroom.

Be knowledgeable of health policies that include but are not limited to: medication administration, allergies, first aid kits, emergency/evacuation plan, sanitation/hygiene, etc.

Utilize active supervision at all times

Leadership:

Serve as a role model and mentor for classroom staff and volunteers.

Supervise assistant teachers and volunteers.

Conduct weekly team meetings and planning sessions.

Promote clear and constant communication between all staff members and program managers.

Ensure all classroom work is completed in timely manner by following daily, weekly, and monthly teacher responsibilities, and other guidance.

Parent Involvement:

Ensure effective communication with families through classroom newsletters, lesson plans, phone calls, and classroom contact.

Conduct parent conferences and home visits according to the scheduled dates.

Plan and implement regular classroom activities, per schedule. Provide an array of opportunities (during class time and evening hours) for participation.

Invite parents to become involved in the development of the program’s curriculum.

CCCC Program Support:

Sustain overall program operations by providing assistance as needed in other classrooms, bus monitoring, kitchen assistance, housekeeping duties, and administrative assistance (perform other duties as assigned).

Encourage and track classroom parent / community involvement. Obtain federal share hours to ensure program requirements are met.

Track child attendance and notify the enrollment specialist with concerns.

Participate in program committees, program wide events and activities and community partnership groups / activities. Must represent CCCC in a professional manner throughout the community.

Participate in required meetings, trainings, and conferences to maintain current knowledge of early childhood development. Complete 15 hours of professional development trainings per year.
