What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Center Assistant Director/Administrator position at Community Care & Learning Center?
General Statement of Duties: The Assistant Director will oversee daily operations of the center to ensure reliable and quality childcare and early learning are provided for all children, supporting general administrative functions and oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively work with and lead others in a team environment.
- Develop effective, equitable employee schedules that meet center requirements
- Serve as knowledgeable initial point of contact for anyone contacting or entering the center, including answering phones, taking messages, and greeting visitors
- Assist with hiring, training, and evaluation of staff
- Ensure all student records, tuition billing and payment, bookkeeping and other responsibilities are accurate and organized
- Schedule and participate in staff meetings
- Prepare monthly board report and attend Board meetings, as requested
- Conduct inventory of supplies needed
- Process and report all Daycare expenses; make bank deposits
- Organize and maintain company documents into filing systems
- Complete all required trainings within 30-day, 60-day, and annual timeframes
- Maintain confidentiality regarding fellow employees, children, and parents
- Serve as licensing-compliant Director when Center Director is off site
- Complete other job-related tasks, as assigned (e.g. supervise interns, train staff)
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office products and Google Drive/Docs.
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, board members, and families
Education:
Must meet Virginia State Licensing minimum requirements for licensed facilities:
- Required: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field
- Preferred: Advanced degree or licensure in Early Childhood Education, or related field
- At least 21 years of age
Requirements:
- Must pass required background and Central Registry checks, and maintain CPR certification
- Complete and clear background screening(s)
- Submit a negative tuberculosis (TB) screening at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children. Maintain negative TB screening every 2 years
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit/stand/see; reach, kneel, or crouch and talk/hear; walk indoors and outdoors and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
